The Breaking TV Film Festival is thrilled to announce that Marie Rouhban has joined this year’s judging panel. Marie, a distinguished filmmaker and festival organizer, brings a wealth of experience and a passionate perspective to the festival.
Marie Rouhban, a 34-year-old French Lebanese filmmaker, has carved out a notable career as a Director and 1st Assistant Director in Los Angeles. A lifelong cinephile, Marie's fascination with cinema began early, leading her to deepen her knowledge and refine her analytical skills in film. Her extensive experience in discussing and evaluating films ensures she will be a valuable addition to the jury.
In addition to her filmmaking career, Marie is an accomplished festival organizer. She serves as the Director of Operations for the Asian World Film Festival, where she has been instrumental in curating and organizing the festival, which is set to celebrate its 10th edition this November. Her role on the selection committee at the Asian World Film Festival underscores her expertise in identifying exceptional film work.
Marie’s previous experience as a jury member includes serving at last year's FilAm Creative Film Festival in Los Angeles. This role provided her with further insight into evaluating films, complementing her extensive background in both creating and critiquing cinematic works.
Born and raised in Paris, Marie’s early passion for cinema led her to explore filmmaking alongside her studies. After graduating from business school, she spent seven years in marketing and advertising, where she was drawn to the creative aspects of her work. This background paved the way for her transition to narrative filmmaking upon her move to Los Angeles in 2021.
In L.A., Marie has made significant strides with her films being selected for prestigious festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival and Hollyshorts. Her work often delves into the horror and dark comedy genres, and she is currently developing her first feature film. Marie’s commitment to multiculturalism and collaborative filmmaking enriches her projects and aligns with her belief in the power of diverse perspectives on set.
The Breaking TV Film Festival is excited to have Marie Rouhban join the judging panel and looks forward to her contributions in celebrating and evaluating outstanding film and television work this year. Her extensive experience and passion for cinema are sure to enhance the festival’s mission of recognizing exceptional talent and creativity in the industry.
